Western!

Been on a little bit of a Western kick lately. First, some doodles of scruffy, shifty looking guys...


And some animals...




Finally, I made a trip up to Bodie, CA last month. It's an abandoned gold mining town that's been turned into a state park. If you haven't been there, I highly recommend going. The drive up along the eastern Sierras is an added bonus!

GO!

Another lunch-time doodle, this time with some color added post-sketching.  This guy was definitely enjoying the sunny weather, which seemed to irk his owner some as she had to keep calling him to come back.

I think his name was really "Chicito", but from far away, it sounded like "Poquito" and "Taquito".  So doodley-dog gets all three.

Not quite right....

Careful, this really isn't a baby elephant...


It may look like it from a distance, but once up close, it's soon recognized that something about this little guy just isn't quite right...This is actually an alien shape-shifter who has taken on the form of something cute (if somewhat emaciated), but it hasn't quite perfected the look of it yet. Unfortunately, its victims don't realize this until they're well within striking distance...



(Apparently SOMEONE has been watching too many episodes of Planet Earth and it's gone to her head...)

Too much work! Not enough blogging!

Here's a fun one:
Found this while going through some stuff I did during my first (and only) year at LCAD. It was an assignment from the Intro. Illustration class where we had to cross an animal and some form of machine...but we had to reference both from life, ie-bring our chosen subjects in to class and spend time drawing each one (which can put a limit on the subjects to choose from). Spending a class drawing snails and taking apart an old Walkman was a lot of fun...probably my favorite class that year :)
